The meeting also marked a reflection on the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Malta and India, celebrated earlier this year. Both sides acknowledged the fruitful collaboration over the past six decades, built on shared values of democracy, the rule of law, and respect for multilateralism.

Speaker Farrugia emphasised Malta’s interest in building on this positive momentum, particularly in the areas of renewable energy, digital innovation, health, and tourism, while encouraging further exchanges between the parliaments and peoples of both nations.

High Commissioner Gangte thanked the Speaker and the Maltese authorities for the warm friendship and support extended to her during her tenure. She reaffirmed India’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and announced her forthcoming appointment as Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of Norway.
