In his meeting with Satya Rodrigo, Ambassador of Sri Lanka, both sides marked the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Malta and Sri Lanka.

Discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in trade, education, culture, and maritime affairs.

Speaker Farrugia welcomed the opening of Malta’s Honorary Consulate in Colombo, describing it as a vital step in boosting business and tourism links.

He also highlighted the shared values of the two island nations through their Commonwealth membership, while Ambassador Rodrigo praised Malta’s active role within the European Union and expressed eagerness to expand cooperation, particularly in education and maritime training.

The Speaker highlighted the success of the new Institute for Tourism Studies campus in Zhengzhou, a symbol of growing educational ties. Both sides emphasized the role of parliamentary diplomacy and the importance of promoting dialogue, peace, and multilateral cooperation.

These meetings reaffirm Malta’s commitment to building bridges of friendship and collaboration with nations across the globe.
