Sliema Cat Killer Loses Appeal Against Prison Sentence: Parliamentary Secretary Welcomes Ruling

31 year old Japanese man Okamura Satoshi has lost his appeal against a two year prison sentence and a €15,000 fine after he was convicted of killing cats in Sliema back in 2025.
CCTV footage had caught Satoshi luring cats with cat food, with police reporting that he reacted aggressively when officers searched him and arrested him.
In reaction to the court upholding the ruling, Parliamentary Secretary for Animal Rights Alicia Bugeja Said welcomed the news.
‘This decision sends a clear message’, she wrote on social media. ‘Animal abuse has no place in our society and will be treated the utmost seriousness it requires.’
She vowed to continue working to ensure the wellbeing of animals and that anyone caught harming them in such a way would face the necessary justice.
