Sixty Trees Planted in Recognition of the Malta Engineering Excellence Award 2025

The Energy and Water Agency (EWA), in collaboration with the Chamber of Engineers, marked sustainability efforts by planting sixty trees in Milbrae Grove, Mosta. The initiative recognised companies that participated in the Energy and Water Sustainability Award, part of the Malta Engineering Excellence Award 2025.
Now in its sixth year of sponsorship, the award celebrates private enterprises implementing impactful projects aimed at reducing energy and water consumption. This year’s winner, Multigas Ltd, was honoured for upgrading its Aspen 1000 Water Cooling System, achieving a 10% reduction in energy use and over 85% water savings. Baxter Ltd and Hilton Malta placed as runners-up. To date, the award has attracted 28 nominations, reflecting growing national interest in sustainable practices.
Addressing attendees, Miriam Dalli emphasised that sustainability is an ongoing journey and encouraged more businesses to adopt efficient resource management strategies. Meanwhile, EWA Chief Policy Officer Charles Buttigieg highlighted the record number of submissions as a sign of increasing engagement among enterprises.
Bonnie Attard noted the importance of responsible resource management in Malta, particularly given its water scarcity and reliance on imported energy. She stressed that such initiatives align with global sustainability goals.
The event concluded with a shared commitment to continue promoting environmental responsibility through innovation, collaboration, and tangible actions such as tree planting.
