At the Fiera Roma, in Italy, Minister for the Economy, Enterprise and Strategic Projects Silvio Schembri addressed thousands of delegates at the SiGMA Central Europe Summit 2025, where he delivered a keynote speech celebrating Malta’s growing international presence in the gaming and digital innovation sectors. This year’s summit marks the first-ever SiGMA edition held outside Malta, reflecting how a Maltese-born brand has grown into one of the world’s leading gaming and tech events.

During his speech, Minister Schembri emphasised how Malta’s startup ecosystem and government support continue to fuel this global expansion. He spoke passionately about Malta’s continued role as a global hub for gaming innovation. Addressing the packed SiGMA Central Europe Summit, Minister Schembri reflected on SiGMA’s journey from a Maltese startup to one of the world’s leading gaming and tech events. “I still remember the first meeting with SiGMA in Malta back in 2013… from a startup to this fabulous event. A daring vision with relentless execution,” Schembri said.

The Economy Minister went on to say that “this is not a one-off. We’ve seen it across the board from multiple companies who started small in Malta and managed to scale to the world.” Silvio Schembri also explained that this is an ongoing process for Malta who continues to attract multiple businesses in the industry and beyond, stating that Malta is “hungry for more.”

Schembri invited companies to bring their ideas to Malta, describing the country as the perfect launchpad for startups: “Your success is our mission too. The Government of Malta is here to support your international expansion. If you’re scouting, visit the Malta stand — meet us, and we’ll back you.” He concluded by saying SiGMA’s journey proves what happens when ambition meets execution, adding that Malta’s doors remain open for the next big idea.

Following the keynote, Minister Schembri went around Fiera Roma and met all the exhibitors, together with SiGMA Founder Eman Pulis, as well as spending some time at the ‘Gaming Malta’ stand where he gave MaltaDaily exclusive comments about the pride of seeing Maltese startups making it on the global stage.
