SIĠĠIEWI CANDLELIGHT TRADITION GOES AHEAD DESPITE BAD WEATHER

The traditional Ħamis ix-Xirka candlelight display in Siġġiewi was successfully held once again this year, despite challenging weather conditions marked by strong winds and rain.
One of the locality’s most anticipated annual events had to be adapted, with volunteers focusing on setting up the installation in St Nicholas Square and along the Way of the Cross at Tal-Għolja.
Despite the difficulties, volunteers from the Każin Banda San Nikola Siġġiewi A.D 1883 persevered to ensure the event could still take place, putting in significant effort to prepare the candles and create a fitting atmosphere for the occasion.
The evening also featured band marches, funeral marches, and spaces for prayer and confession, offering a deeply reflective and spiritual experience for attendees.
In a message, the organisers thanked all volunteers, the Local Council, and officials who assisted in making the event possible.
Once again, Siġġiewi demonstrated strong community spirit and dedication to preserving this cherished Holy Week tradition, even in the face of adverse weather.
