The sister of Charlotte, the 44-year-old woman from Xgħajra who was found dead in Żabbar, has paid an emotional tribute to her following her tragic death.

In a heartfelt post, Angie described Charlotte as a woman who “never had an easy life” and who had been “a victim of so many things”, yet continued trying to move forward despite the difficulties she faced.

Angie said her sister had finally reached a point where she had paid her bills, was getting her life back on track and was ready to begin a new chapter.

“She was ready to start a new chapter and a new life,” she wrote.

Charlotte was found lifeless inside a bedroom at a residence in Triq Corrado, Żabbar, on Sunday afternoon. Police said initial indications suggested she had suffered one or more gunshot wounds.

Her 42-year-old partner was arrested at the scene, while a firearm was also found inside the residence. Police are investigating the death as a suspected case of femicide.

The couple had a history of domestic violence allegations, with the man having been convicted of domestic violence against Charlotte in 2017.

Angie said her sister deserved peace, happiness and a life free from the pain she had endured.

“Rest peacefully, Charlotte. You will always be loved, remembered, and missed,” she wrote.

She also thanked everyone who had offered condolences, messages and prayers to the family.

“Forever in our hearts.”
