Sharp Metal Point Posing Risks For Swimmers On Buġibba Slipway

Raniero Borg, a local marine activist, has raised alarms over a dangerous metal point reported at the Buġibba slipway.
‘While I was checking it, I came across two elderly people swimming and walking through this exact area, putting themselves at risk of stepping on the metal and seriously injuring or piercing their feet’, he explained as he showed the point.
‘They have very little choice but to pass through here, as one side is extremely slippery and the other is surrounded by rocks.’
The hazard remains unreported despite people working in the vicinity.
‘We should not have to wait for someone to get seriously injured before action is taken. If you see a danger, report it.’
