Seven People Arrested In Two Separate Drug Trafficking Investigations

Seven people have been arrested in two separate investigations into suspected drug trafficking carried out by the Malta Police Force.
The first investigation involved surveillance on suspected drug trafficking from a property in Triq il-Ġerrejja, Marsa, as well as from a bar in the same locality.
The operation led to the arrest of six people, including five men aged between 16 and 39 years old and a 32-year-old woman.
Following several searches, police discovered around 165 packets containing suspected synthetic drugs, allegedly prepared for sale, along with €5,600 in cash. Two vehicles believed to have been used in connection with drug trafficking were also seized.
A separate investigation focused on suspected drug trafficking from a residence in St Julian’s. Following information received by police regarding activity in the Ta’ Giorni area and surrounding streets, officers carried out surveillance which confirmed the suspicions.
Police later entered a residence in Triq Sir Joseph Carbone with an arrest warrant, where a 39-year-old man was arrested.
During a search of the property, officers found around 100 grams of suspected synthetic cannabis divided into several small packets, allegedly ready for trafficking, as well as a small quantity of a substance suspected to be heroin. Several mobile phones were also seized.
Police said investigations into both cases are ongoing. Four of the people arrested are expected to appear in court later today at around noon.
