Sedqa Launches Cocktail Recipe Booklet To Promote Alcohol Free Alternatives

Sedqa, the agency within the Foundation for Social Welfare Services, has launched a new booklet of mocktail recipes in collaboration with the Institute of Tourism Studies.
The publication introduces a variety of creative alcohol free drinks designed to appeal to families, young people and hospitality professionals, especially during the festive season. The aim is to raise awareness of fresh and attractive alternatives that can be prepared and served in any setting without the risks associated with alcohol.
The initiative was presented at the ITS campus in Luqa, where Sedqa explained that the booklet forms part of its ongoing commitment to promote healthier lifestyles and responsible choices at social events. Mocktails provide a practical way to enjoy celebrations without relying on alcohol or engaging in substance misuse.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism Ian Borg praised Sedqa and ITS for their socially minded collaboration, noting that alcohol misuse can ruin celebrations and even lead to serious consequences. He highlighted the role of the hospitality sector in supporting responsible enjoyment and said that offering alcohol free options contributes to sustainable and considerate tourism.

Minister for Social Policy and Children's Rights Michael Falzon commended Sedqa for developing services that mirror the evolving landscape of substance abuse. He stressed the importance of early education about the negative consequences linked to alcohol and drug abuse. FSWS Chief Executive Alfred Grixti also acknowledged Sedqa’s innovative approach and its focus on educational outreach that begins in schools.

Sedqa and the FSWS expressed their gratitude to ITS and Farsons for their valuable collaboration. Copies of the mocktail booklet will be available to the public through Sedqa’s services.
