Second Edition Of 10km L-Istrina Palace Run To Take Place On June 14

After last year's inaugural edition connected Verdala Palace with San Anton Palace, this year's event will take participants on a 10-kilometre route from San Anton Palace to the President's Palace in Valletta.
Details of the event were announced during a press conference held at San Anton Palace. During the conference, the President of Malta, Myriam Spiteri Debono, thanked everyone whose participation is helping the Malta Community Chest Fund continue providing assistance to those in need.
The President explained that the Malta Community Chest Fund receives requests for assistance throughout the year and that these requests reflect an increasing and evolving range of illnesses and conditions. She said that, for this reason, the Fund—which helps all those who turn to it for support—requires funding year-round, with needs continuing to grow from one year to the next.
Major Richard Vassallo, who came up with the initiative, spoke about how the idea originated from athletes' desire to have another event, in addition to the President's Walk, in which they could participate while also enjoying the satisfaction of supporting the Malta Community Chest Fund.
The press conference was also addressed by Joe Micallef, the chief organizer of The Malta Marathon, who is also coordinating this year's edition of The 10km L-Istrina Palace Run.
He spoke about the encouraging participation levels for this year's event, emphasizing that the event is not only reserved for professional athletes, but for anyone who enjoys running, even as a hobby.
Tickets for The 10km L-Istrina Palace Run in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund are available on Malta Marathon.
