Sea Urchin Eggs Hatched For 1st Time In Aquatic Resources Malta Lab

Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights Anton Refalo announced that sea urchin eggs have been hatched for the first time in a laboratory at Aquatic Resources Malta.
‘Sea urchins are at the heart of another successful scientific project led by Aquatic Resources Malta’, explained the Minister.
This is part of an initiative aimed at conserving and strengthening the species in our seas.
‘This project, together with the moratorium on harvesting, represents a concrete step towards protecting the Maltese marine environment and ensuring its long term sustainability.’
