SDM Releases Statement On Rise Of Incidents In Schools

Student organisation SDM has released a statement following the incident that occurred in a Gozo secondary school, where a student was attacked by another student with a sharp object.

They condemn both this incident, and the stabbing which occurred last month at St Clare’s College in Pembroke.

“Our schools must be safe and supportive environments where students can learn without fear,” stated SDM, “These event highlight the urgent need for careful evaluation of school safety alongside stronger prevention, early intervention, and student support systems.”

They proceeded to note “the lack of timely and clear information from the authorities,” which, according to SDM, “ only adds to the anxiety of parents and school communities.”

They concluded by extending their thought to all those involved in yesterday’s incident, calling once again for transparency, reassurance and decisive action.
