SAN PAWL IL-BAĦAR TOPS MALTA FOR NEW HOMES APPROVED IN SECOND QUARTER

San Pawl il-Baħar recorded the highest number of new homes approved in Malta during the second quarter of 2026, according to figures published by the National Statistics Office (NSO).
A total of 258 new dwellings were approved in the locality between April and June.
Birkirkara followed closely with 256 approved homes, while L-Imsida recorded 164. Ħal Safi had 133, followed by Il-Mosta with 130.
Across Malta and Gozo, a total of 3,126 new dwellings were approved during the quarter. This was a 3.3 per cent increase compared with the same period last year.
Apartments continued to make up the largest share of new homes, with 2,253 apartments approved, representing 72.1 per cent of the total.
At district level, the Northern Harbour recorded the highest number of approved dwellings, with 1,122, while the Western district had the lowest, with 225.
The figures show that San Pawl il-Baħar remained the leading locality for new residential development during the period.
