San Pawl Il-Baħar Council Urges Shops To Be Careful When Selling Eggs And Flour Ahead Of Halloween

With Halloween just around the corner, the San Pawl il-Baħar Local Council and Community Police have issued an unusual warning to local shops: be careful who you sell eggs and flour to.
In a joint letter dated 27th October 2026, the council and police urged businesses to remain vigilant when selling certain products, particularly to young people who would not normally purchase them.
The warning comes following incidents in previous years where eggs and flour were reportedly used irresponsibly during Halloween celebrations, causing damage to residents and their property.
The authorities are now encouraging shopkeepers to pay closer attention to suspicious purchases in an effort to prevent similar incidents this year.
The letter, signed by Mayor Ċensu Galea and Community Police Officer Amanda Azzopardi, also thanked businesses for their cooperation in keeping the community safe.
While Halloween is usually associated with costumes, sweets and spooky celebrations, the council is hoping to avoid the less enjoyable tradition of throwing eggs and flour at people's homes and property.
Do you think shops should be more careful about selling eggs and flour during Halloween?
