SAC Soirée Returns for its 50th Anniversary with 'SANTA FE'
Local

The St Aloysius Sixth Form Soirée is officially back and this year it marks a major milestone as it celebrates its 50th anniversary. To commemorate the occasion, the student-led production returns with a full-scale musical, Santa Fe, alongside a diverse programme of eight performances that reflect the Soirée’s long-standing creative legacy.

Inspired by the popular musical Newsies, Santa Fe follows the story of a group of construction workers and labourers who unite to fight for their rights against a system stacked firmly against them. It is a story rooted in resilience, solidarity and youthful determination, themes that resonate strongly with the spirit of the Soirée itself. The narrative is brought to life through energetic dance numbers, powerful vocal performances and a striking original set, all developed and executed by students.

Beyond the central musical, this year’s programme also includes F’Qalb Il-Mediterran, SAC de Janeiro, Sevillanas, Stairway to Heaven, Planet of the Boys, The Importance of Being Earnest, The Riff Off and Golden Rewind, offering audiences a varied mix of music, theatre and movement.

As has become tradition, the Soirée is entirely student-run, from direction and orchestration to performance and stage management, with support from school management and sponsors. Five decades on, the St Aloysius Sixth Form Soirée continues to prove that student creativity remains at its core.
