RotorTechnics, a Maltese helicopter maintenance company based in Safi, has announced an investment of over €1.5 million in new equipment, tools, and staff development.
During a visit to the company’s hangar, Prime Minister Robert Abela congratulated Gulf Med Aviation Services on this milestone, as the firm now assumes a new identity as RotorTechnics.

Employing approximately 70 people, including engineers, aviation technicians, and support staff, RotorTechnics is Malta’s first EASA-approved hub for helicopter maintenance. The company is poised to develop its facilities into a strategic centre for the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of rotorcraft in the Mediterranean region.
In his address, the Prime Minister thanked Malta Enterprise, Indis Malta, and Transport Malta for their ongoing support of the sector, urging continued collaboration in the future. He also welcomed discussions between RotorTechnics and public entities, including Transport Malta and MCAST, regarding the establishment of a helicopter maintenance academy in Malta. The initiative aims to nurture local talent while attracting international students.
Prime Minister Abela said, “This commitment aligns with the Government’s efforts to prioritise aviation as a sector with real growth potential, as highlighted in Malta Vision 2050. Malta is determined to be more than just a bridge between Europe and North Africa. We are building an economy focused on innovation, skills, and international collaboration.”
The Prime Minister was joined by the Minister for the Economy, Enterprise, and Strategic Projects, Silvio Schembri.

Chief Executive of RotorTechnics, Simon Camilleri, added, “Our history demonstrates the need to continually evolve in order to provide excellence. We combine local expertise with global standards, delivering solutions from Malta that address challenges worldwide.”
