Roderick Galdes To Challenge PL Vote Blocking His Election Bid

Roderick Galdes has reportedly filed a complaint with Labour Party officials, alleging that internal rules were breached during a vote that prevented him from standing as a candidate in the upcoming election.
The former housing minister was rejected by the Labour Party executive, the party’s top decision-making body, in a secret ballot held on Monday shortly before Prime Minister Robert Abela launched the election campaign.
Reports indicate that the first vote on Galdes resulted in a tie, leading to a second round in which he was ultimately defeated.
However, Galdes is now contesting the validity of the initial vote, claiming that one participant did not have the right to vote. He argues that, had this vote been excluded, he would have secured enough support to avoid a second ballot.
Galdes has claimed he is the target of a coordinated political attack aimed at damaging his reputation. Galdes did not specify who he believes is responsible and has declined to comment further.
In statements this morning, Prime Minister Robert Abela said that he will be having further discussions with Galdes later today.
