Roberta Metsola Meets Pope Leo XIV At Vatican

European Parliament President Roberta Metsola had the opportunity to meet Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican today.
‘Grateful for his clarity of purpose and for our shared reflections on advancing peace through dialogue across Europe and the world’, wrote Metsola on social media.
Robert Prevost, was elected to the papacy on May 8th 2025 after the passing of Pope Francis last year.
He is the first pope to have been born in the United States, the first to hold either US or Peruvian citizenships, and the first from the Order of Saint Augustine.
