Roberta Metsola Meets French President Emmanuel Macron

European Parliament President Roberta Metsola visited Paris this week, engaging in high-level discussions with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace.

During her trip, President Metsola paid homage to the victims of the 2015 Paris attacks.

She joined President Macron and Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo in the dedication of a new memorial garden, providing a place to remember the 130 people killed, the hundreds injured, and the many left scarred by the tragedy.

Metsola also held meetings with key French officials, including Foreign Affairs Minister Jean-Noël Barrot and Senate President Gérard Larcher.

Ahead of her visit, President Metsola reiterated in Parliament that terrorism attacks not only harm individuals but also target European values, peace, and tolerance.

She promised that her presence in Paris would convey the EU’s enduring support and solidarity with those affected by the 2015 attacks.
