Roberta Metsola, President of the European Parliament, has made her fourth visit to Ukraine since the start of the conflict, emphasising Europe’s unwavering support for the country.

Addressing the Ukrainian Parliament, Metsola declared: “Europe stands with you. Europe is by your side.”

At the Wall of Remembrance, she observed a moment of silence for those who have lost their lives in the conflict, reflecting on the sacrifice required to defend freedom.

Yet, amidst the hardship, Metsola highlighted signs of hope. She visited a school canteen renovated with EU funds, where children enjoyed warm, nutritious meals. “This is what solidarity looks like: investing in children’s health, education and future,” she said.

In Kyiv, she also inaugurated the European Parliament’s office, a symbolic step to bring Europe closer to the people of Ukraine.

During meetings with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, and Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk, Metsola stressed that Ukraine’s struggle is fundamentally about shared values: dignity, democracy and liberty.

“Europe must continue its support with humanitarian aid for families, sanctions to weaken the war machine, and unity with partners to bring peace closer,” she stated.

Metsola concluded her visit by thanking Ukrainians for their courage: “You prove that courage can be stronger than fear. You remind us that freedom is worth everything. You inspire Europe. You inspire the world.”
