Robert Abela States That He And His Team Are Ready To Serve Another Term

Prime Minister Robert Abela addressed a mass rally in Raħal Ġdid on Thursday alongside his wife, Lydia Abela, and Labour candidates from the fourth electoral district.
During his speech, Abela referred to the latest European Commission economic forecasts, which ranked Malta’s economy among the strongest in the European Union.
He said the result reflected the Government’s economic direction and commitment to prosperity.
The Prime Minister also criticised proposals put forward by Nationalist Party leader Alex Borg, including a proposal concerning sick leave for self-employed workers, which Abela said has existed since the 1990s.
Abela further criticised Borg’s proposal regarding pensions for foreign workers, clarifying that under current Labour legislation, foreign nationals are only entitled to a Maltese pension after contributing to social security for at least ten years.
“Don’t believe the surveys. Every election starts zero-zero,” Abela told supporters, urging voters to turn out at the polls.
He described the upcoming election as a choice between “politics of prosperity” and “a return to politics of austerity”.
He concluded by stating that he and the “Malta Aqwa” team were ready to serve the country for another term.
