ROBERT ABELA PROPOSES INCREASED SUPPORT FOR ELDERLY WITH LIVE-IN CARERS AT ĦAL GĦAXAQ RALLY

Prime Minister Robert Abela has announced an increase in government financial assistance for elderly people who employ a live-in carer, as part of a new measure unveiled during a mass rally in Ħal Għaxaq.
Addressing supporters, Abela confirmed that the financial aid provided by the government will rise from €9,000 to match the national minimum wage, bringing the amount to almost €11,000.
The Prime Minister said the increase is aimed at easing the financial burden on elderly citizens and their families who rely on live-in carers to maintain independent living and receive the support they need at home.
Abela described the measure as part of the government’s broader commitment to strengthening social support systems for senior citizens and ensuring that elderly people are given the assistance needed to live with dignity and security.
He said the increased support reflects Labour’s continued focus on investing in people’s wellbeing, particularly vulnerable groups who face rising costs and growing care needs.
The announcement was met with applause from supporters gathered in Ħal Għaxaq, as the Prime Minister outlined the government’s social policy priorities ahead of the general election on 30 May.
