Robert Abela Meets Representatives Of Malta Entertainment Industry & Arts Association

Prime Minister Robert Abela continued his pre-Budget 2027 consultation meetings with representatives of the Malta Entertainment Industry and Arts Association (MEIA), where discussions focused on the priorities, challenges and opportunities within Malta's cultural and creative sectors.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Abela highlighted the importance of investing in sectors that generate added value for society as part of a strong economy. He said the arts and culture play a significant role not only in preserving Malta's cultural identity and supporting social development but also in contributing to economic growth and improving people's quality of life.
Abela said that in recent years the Government has introduced various measures and initiatives aimed at strengthening the cultural and creative industries. He noted that this progress was also supported by continued collaboration with professionals and organisations operating within the sector, alongside the introduction of schemes and incentives designed to support artists and creative professionals.
The Prime Minister reiterated the Government's commitment to improving the conditions that allow people working in the creative industries to develop sustainable careers, enhance their skills and pursue new professional opportunities.
He acknowledged that challenges remain within the sector and said the Government will continue working closely with stakeholders through ongoing dialogue. He added that this engagement will help build on existing initiatives while identifying further measures that address the evolving needs of artists and creative professionals.
During the meeting, MEIA's contribution to the Budget 2027 consultation process was recognised, particularly through the association's proposals submitted ahead of the Budget.
Also present for the meeting were Minister for Finance Clyde Caruana, Minister for Tourism Jo Etienne Abela, Minister Malcolm Paul Agius Galea, Minister Omar Farrugia and MP Nigel Vella.
