Taking to social media following the release of his latest nationwide study, statistician Vincent Marmara published new findings on public trust in Malta’s political leaders. These results form part of the November 2025 Survey, conducted between 13 and 20 November among a calibrated sample of 1,200 respondents. Earlier findings from the same survey indicated that the Labour Party currently holds an estimated lead of 24,000 to 28,000 votes if a general election were held today.

In this latest section of the study, participants were asked which political leader they would prefer as Prime Minister of Malta. Among those who voted Labour in the 2022 general election, the majority expressed a preference for Robert Abela, with only a very small proportion opting for Alex Borg. Conversely, among those who voted for the Nationalist Party in 2022, most selected Alex Borg, with minimal support shown for Robert Abela.

After applying his scientific modelling to account for non-responses, Marmara projected that 43.6% of the population prefer Robert Abela as Prime Minister, while 34.9% prefer Alex Borg. This results in an 8.7% advantage for Abela in overall leader trust.

Together, the results provide an early snapshot of the country’s shifting political dynamics as attention gradually turns toward the next general election.
