ROBERT ABELA HIGHLIGHTS ECONOMIC SUPPORT AND NATIONAL UNITY AT BIRŻEBBUĠA EVENT

Prime Minister Robert Abela said the Government will continue supporting Maltese and Gozitan families through economic measures, including energy subsidies, tax reductions, and increased benefits, during a political activity in Birżebbuġa.
Dr Abela stated that Malta is facing current challenges with strong public finances, including a surplus and substantial reserves. He noted that these results stem from policies aimed at protecting families, particularly through energy subsidies. He added that Malta remains among the top countries in Europe for employment, with record-high rates driven by a people-centred economic approach.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the return of Fort Tigné and Manoel Island to public use, describing them as national assets for families to enjoy.
Referring to Freedom Day, Abela said Malta’s decision to end its role as a military base was key to its economic and social development. He emphasised neutrality as a cornerstone of Malta’s foreign policy, describing it as an active commitment to peace and diplomacy.
Deputy Prime Minister Ian Borg and MEP Alex Agius Saliba also stressed the importance of neutrality, economic strength, and national unity in ensuring long-term stability and prosperity.
