During the debate, Robert Abela described education as one of the most important journeys in a person’s life and said that the Labour Party’s “Int Malta” vision is based on a holistic approach.

He emphasised the importance of modern schools, healthy lifestyles, nutrition, and sports, while also highlighting that Labour Governments have consistently increased student stipends over the years.

Abela encouraged students to continue investing in their education and upskilling, stressing the value of ERASMUS experiences in helping young people return to Malta with stronger skills and better preparation for the workforce.

He also referred to several initiatives introduced by the Government to support students and young workers.

On the environment and quality of life, Abela criticised the Nationalist Party over plans for a petrol station at Hurds Bank.

He highlighted major environmental and regeneration projects, including Manoel Island, White Rocks, and Fort Campbell, which he said are intended to become large national parks.

Other projects mentioned included Wied Inċita and Park ta’ Bengħajsa. Abela also announced that the second interconnector will begin operating this year, while works on a third interconnector are set to begin.

Defending the Government’s economic record, Abela stated that despite challenges such as the pandemic and international conflicts, Malta continued to protect citizens, maintain a surplus, and invest in the country’s future.

He also criticised the Opposition over the promotion of Oliver Cini as an engineer, challenging Alex Borg to apologise to engineering students.
