Robert Abela Commits to More Action to Tackle Swieqi's Problems

Prime Minister Robert Abela has pledged to continue taking action to address ongoing issues in Swieqi after meeting with the local council and residents.

During the meeting, the Swieqi mayor said that 90% of the locality's problems stem from short-let properties, while Deputy Mayor Jordan Galea Pace said many young people choose Airbnbs because they believe they have more freedom to party and behave chaotically.

Abela said that while investors should be protected, their interests should not come at the expense of residents, stressing the need for a balanced approach.

He also welcomed the councillors' recognition of the government's efforts so far and committed to building on existing measures, including community policing, new rules and regulations for Airbnbs, and WhatsApp reporting channels.

Sharing the meeting on social media, Abela said his commitment is to continue working with the council and residents to ensure that Swieqi's quality of life remains a priority through concrete and coordinated action.
