Robert Abela Calls For More Trust At United Nations General Assembly

Addressing the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York this past week, Prime Minister Robert Abela called for a rebuilding of trust across the international community.

‘No community can succeed if we blindly believe if our neighbours are out to do us down. Just as no country can succeed if it blindly believes that its neighbours, even those it may long have seen and considered as friends are out to get it’, said Abela.

He said that this should prompt us to restore trust, rebuild alliances and remaking friendships must be the central mission of everyone in attendance at the UN and when back home in their respective countries.

‘To change you have to believe. Let us be utterly unequivocal’, he continued, calling for more dialogue and more trust.

This comes amidst rising geopolitical tensions with various conflicts and crises around the world.
