Robert Abela Announces New Incentives For Malta’s Artists And Creatives

Prime Minister Robert Abela announced a number of new proposals aimed at supporting artists and creatives during a discussion organised by Labour Women in Floriana on Wednesday evening.
As part of Labour’s manifesto for the general election on 30 May, the party said that the next legislature would introduce specialised training for artists focused on the business side of the creative industry.
The training would include guidance on financial administration, advertising, pricing and legal concepts that are important for creatives working professionally. The proposal aims to help artists better manage their careers, understand the value of their work and build more financially sustainable creative businesses.
Labour also pledged a dedicated package of incentives for artistic and creative start-ups, aimed at helping more creatives turn their ideas into sustainable businesses. The incentives could help reduce financial barriers for young artists and creatives trying to launch projects or companies.
Another proposal includes the creation of a new digital lab that would provide space and support for digital creators and start-ups to develop innovative projects and grow their ideas in a more holistic way. The space would aim to encourage collaboration, innovation and access to resources for Malta’s growing digital creative sector.
The proposals are intended to strengthen the commercial side of Malta’s creative industries, improve career opportunities for artists and encourage more innovation within the cultural and digital sectors.
