Rising Stars In Parliament: The Best Performing New Faces Of This Election

Malta’s next parliament is getting a fresh injection of talent, and voters have made it clear they’re ready for new energy in the political scene.
At least eight new faces are set to take seats in parliament, with seven of them contesting a general election for the very first time.
And while the number could still rise once gender-balance mechanisms and casual elections are finalised, one thing is certain: change is already underway.
The Nationalist Party leads the charge with six newcomers making it through. Among them, former secretary general Michael Piccinino secured a strong showing on District 4, while architect Julian Borg claimed victory on District 6.
Lawyer Conrad Borg Manche’ stood out with a dual-district election across Districts 5 and 10,a clear sign of broad support.
Deputy leader Alex Perici Calascione locked in District 9, while rising star Beppe Galea made headlines as one of the youngest MPs after winning in Gozo’s District 13.
Lawyer Frank Anthony Tabone also joins the ranks through the proportionality adjustment mechanism.
But it’s on the Labour side where one of the most talked-about performances comes in.
John Grech, contesting his very first general election, delivered a standout result on District 8, emerging as one of the strongest new entries overall.
His performance didn’t just secure him a seat, it positioned him as one of Labour’s most promising new figures, with a result that’s already turning heads across the political spectrum.
Joining him is Nigel Vella, who also made a successful first-time bid, securing election from District 1.
While many familiar names have retained their seats, this wave of newcomers signals a shift, a parliament that blends experience with a new generation ready to make its mark.
With fresh perspectives now entering the House, Malta’s political landscape just got a lot more interesting.
