Richmond Foundation Team To Travel To Kenya For Mental Health And Safeguarding Initiative

A group of managers, staff and volunteers from Richmond Foundation will travel to Kenya this summer as part of an initiative aimed at supporting local communities and sharing expertise in mental health, safeguarding and youth wellbeing.
Rooted in values of compassion, empathy and meaningful action, the initiative will see the Maltese organisation extend its support beyond Malta and work alongside local communities to help people who may benefit from its knowledge, skills and experience.
During the visit, Richmond Foundation trainers will provide safeguarding training within a diocese in Kenya, helping participants strengthen their knowledge and confidence in creating safer environments for children, young people and vulnerable adults.
The team will also deliver Youth Mental Health First Aid training to educators at a school, teaching them how to provide initial support to young people experiencing mental health difficulties or a crisis. Teen Mental Health First Aid sessions will also be offered to students, equipping them with the skills to support friends and classmates who may be struggling.
As part of the initiative, Richmond Foundation staff will also work with the local community to enhance a youth day centre supporting young people who have experienced trauma, helping create a safer and more welcoming environment where they can heal, build resilience and look towards a brighter future.
