RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY SALES FALL IN JULY AS VALUE OF TRANSACTIONS RISES

A recent study by the NSO has revealed that a total of 1,207 final deeds of sale involving residential property were registered in July 2026, marking a 5.1 per cent decrease compared with the same month last year.
Despite the drop in the number of sales, the total value of the transactions increased by 3.6 per cent to €417.6 million.
Individual buyers accounted for the majority of final deeds, with 1,081 transactions, or 89.6 per cent of the total. These purchases were valued at €320.2 million.
San Pawl il-Baħar recorded the highest number of final deeds of sale in July, with 89 transactions, followed by Marsaskala with 60 and Mosta with 54.
A total of 1,333 properties changed hands through the final deeds registered during the month. Apartments were the most common type of property, with 470 transactions, followed by garages with 331.
Meanwhile, 1,147 promise of sale agreements were registered in July, down 6.5 per cent from a year earlier. However, their combined value rose by 9.7 per cent to €483.3 million.
San Pawl il-Baħar also topped the list for promise of sale agreements with 115, followed by Birkirkara with 77 and Mosta with 53.
