Regenerated Pedestrian Area In Mosta Now Complete

The Department of Public Works has completed another regeneration project, this time in the Tal-Qares pedestrian area in Mosta. For many years, this area surrounding the Chapel of St Andrew had been neglected and often experienced flooding after heavy rains.

Thanks to the collaborative efforts of the Department of Public Works and the Mosta Local Council, the space has now been transformed into a welcoming pedestrian zone. The area features new benches, intelligent lighting designed to complement the chapel’s architecture, and the planting of new trees.
Parliamentary Secretary for Public Works Omar Farrugia highlighted that this project follows other recent initiatives in Mosta, including works in Pjazza t-Torri and Triq Kurat Calleja, as well as in Triq Sciortino in Ħaż-Żebbuġ and Trejqet is-6 ta’ Novembru, 559 in Ħal Kirkop.
“In recent months, we have strengthened our active dialogue with local councils and communities, listening closely to residents who wanted more regenerated pedestrian spaces where they could relax with their families. This area of Mosta, long abandoned, now offers a safer and more beautiful pedestrian zone for residents,” Farrugia said.
Mosta Mayor Joseph Gatt emphasized the value of such projects, noting that they enhance the living environment for residents. “These initiatives are appreciated by the community as they provide a safer and more attractive space for everyone,” he added.
