Rapid Progress On The Żurrieq Parish Centre Project

The Żurrieq Parish Centre is finally being given a new lease of life through a comprehensive regeneration project after years of being abandoned.
The initiative aims to restore the building as a central space for parish and voluntary organisations to once again serve the local community.
During a recent visit, Omar Farrugia, Parliamentary Secretary for Public Works, praised the rapid progress achieved by workers from the Public Works Department.
He noted that the centre is expected to reopen in the coming months, providing residents with a safe and accessible venue for various community activities.
Accompanied by Archpriest Fr Daniel Cardona, Farrugia emphasised that such projects are vital in strengthening social ties at the heart of Maltese towns and villages.
He highlighted the government’s commitment to supporting spaces that foster participation and collaboration among residents.
Fr Cardona expressed his appreciation for the ongoing work, stating that once complete, the Parish Centre will again become a focal point for local gatherings and initiatives.
Parish architect Daniel Darmanin outlined that works include new sanitary and electrical systems, tiling, lift installation, upgraded audio and security systems, and other essential improvements.
Mayor Rita Grima and Director General Perit Stephen Bonello also attended the visit.
