Local

A group of Guides, Rangers, Senior Rangers and Leaders from the 7th Rabat Girl Guides travelled to Windsor in the United Kingdom this summer to take part in WINGS 2026, an international Scout and Guide jamboree bringing together young people from around the world for adventure, learning and cultural exchange.

Held in Windsor Great Park, the event transformed the campsite into the fictional "Kingdom of WINGS", where participants explored a range of themed Guilds packed with exciting activities and challenges.

The Maltese contingent enjoyed water-based adventures in the Voyager's Guild, learned valuable outdoor survival skills in the Survivalist's Guild and expressed their creativity in the Artisan's Guild.

They also took on climbing challenges in the Scaler and Miner's Guild while testing their teamwork and problem-solving skills through activities in the Challenger's Guild. Other experiences included performance, wheeled activities and enterprise-based challenges.

Away from the Guilds, the group visited Windsor and took part in evening entertainment, themed nights, and the jamboree's opening and closing ceremonies, ensuring the international experience continued throughout the week.

The Rabat Girl Guides also proudly represented Malta by organising a cultural activity inspired by the jamboree's medieval theme. Participants created Maltese shields while discovering more about the country's history, symbols and traditions.

Following a week of camping, the group travelled to London, visiting some of the city's most famous landmarks as well as Pax Lodge, one of the five World Centres of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts.
