Public Urged Not to Swim at St Paul’s Bay Beach Due to Water Pollution
Local

The Environmental Health Directorate has issued a precautionary bathing advisory for Il-Bajja tal-Għażżenin in St Paul's Bay after a sewage overflow entered the sea, potentially affecting water quality.

In line with the Bathing Water Directive, authorities are advising the public not to swim at the site due to the possible health risks posed by the contamination.

Warning signs have been installed around the affected area to inform bathers of the advisory. These will remain in place until water quality returns to safe levels, after which a new notice will be issued confirming that the beach is once again suitable for swimming.

Environmental Health Officers are currently investigating the source and extent of the contamination. Authorities said it is still too early to determine how long the bathing advisory will remain in effect.

The public is urged to follow official guidance and avoid swimming at Il-Bajja tal-Għażżenin until further notice.
