Protest Against Domestic Violence Held Outside Castille

A demonstration was held outside Castille yesterday titled ‘Malta Is Tired Of Waiting: Justice, Wake up’, to raise awareness against domestic violence, abuse and other preventable loss of life.

The demonstration, which was organised as a pyjama party to raise awareness, saw demonstrators carrying placards. ADPD chairperson Sandra Gauci held a sign reading ‘Consequences Before Funerals’, explaining that violence can manifest in many forms.

It is not just a form of physical violence, said Gauci, but a language of submission that can impact someone’s life over long periods of time. This is why, she said, more awareness needs to be raised, to help those suffering, many times in silence.
