Proposal Launched For Special Leave For Parents Of Babies In Intensive Care

Parliamentary Secretary for Social Dialogue, Andy Ellul, has announced plans to introduce a new type of leave for parents whose babies are admitted to the Neonatal & Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (NPICU).
Ellul has been consulting with medical professionals and parents in this situation to understand their needs. On 25 September, a national discussion will be held to further raise public awareness and gather input.
The ultimate goal is to legislate this special leave, as previously declared by Prime Minister Robert Abela, to assist parents during their child’s most delicate moments.Ellul has encouraged anyone affected by this issue whether parents or healthcare staff to share their experiences and contribute here.
