Property Malta Looks To The Future Through Data & Digitalisation Investment

Property Malta welcomed Minister for Infrastructure, Planning and Public Works Jonathan Attard for its Annual General Meeting, during which an overview of the work carried out in recent months was presented, alongside discussions on the foundation’s future direction.
Property Malta Chairperson Sandro Chetcuti said it was a pleasure for the foundation to welcome the Minister responsible for the sector.
He noted that the foundation will soon celebrate its 10th anniversary since its establishment and, while highlighting its various achievements over the years, reiterated its commitment to continue investing.
“We believe that through greater investment in data and digitalisation, Property Malta can serve as a platform that also assists citizens when they seek guidance during what can be one of the most important decisions of their lives, namely investing in property,” Chetcuti said.
Property Malta said it looks forward to continuing promoting Malta as an investment destination.
The foundation acknowledged the challenges facing the sector and said it remains committed to presenting concrete proposals. Among the issues that will remain on its agenda is the exploration of new high-quality investments and developments, allowing Malta to continue building on recent successful projects.
Secretary Alfred Camilleri delivered a presentation on the foundation’s work over recent months. Among the initiatives highlighted was the outcome of discussions held during the visit of Malta’s largest delegation abroad, involving more than 80 people in China, as well as the establishment of the Property Price Registry.
The online platform provides data on contracted prices of residential property. The service is based on notarial deeds registered from 2018 onwards and is updated every six months.
While professionals can subscribe to the service, citizens can access specific property information free of charge. Camilleri explained that more than 120 requests had been submitted in the first weeks following its launch.
Minister Attard said the past year had been a significant one for Property Malta, not only in promoting Malta as an investment destination but also through its proactive role in establishing the Property Price Registry.
“This service is certainly continuing to strengthen transparency and accountability within the sector, and I look forward to this initiative between Government and the private sector continuing to grow and play a more central role in the sector in the coming years,” Minister Attard said.
