Prime Minister Visits Ramla Valley Olive Grove

Ramla Valley Olive Grove, a seven-generation family-run agricultural business in Gozo, welcomed Prime Minister Robert Abela during a visit to the island alongside Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri.

During his visit to the olive grove, located in the fertile Ramla Valley, Abela was shown the olive oil production process, from the harvesting of olives to the finished product. He was also informed about how the business combines traditional techniques with organic farming practices.

The company is best known for its award-winning extra virgin olive oil, which has received international recognition. Alongside olive oil, Ramla Valley Olive Grove produces flavoured oils, honey, jam, olives, capers, tomato paste, sun-dried tomatoes and seasonal fruit, using produce grown by the family to maintain quality throughout the production process.

Abela praised the work of businesses such as Ramla Valley Olive Grove for combining tradition with innovation and creating high-quality Gozitan products that can compete internationally.

He said agriculture, local produce and family businesses remain an important part of Gozo's economic and social identity, adding that the Government will continue supporting initiatives that strengthen quality, create added value and open new opportunities for Gozitan producers.

The visit also included a meeting with representatives of the Gozo University Group (GUG), focusing on young people, connectivity and local enterprise.

During the meeting with the GUG executive, the Prime Minister listened to students discuss the challenges they face, their university experiences and their aspirations for the future. He said the Government remains committed to initiatives that support young people while also giving them a stronger voice in their communities and in decisions affecting their lives.

The discussion also covered measures to further improve connectivity between Malta and Gozo. Abela said the Government's vision remains focused on creating quality opportunities on the island, particularly for young people, allowing them to develop their careers, achieve their ambitions and choose to build their future in Gozo.
