Prime Minister Robert Abela Pays Tribute To DJ Ryan Spiteri And Other Victim

Prime Minister Robert Abela has paid tribute to Ryan Spiteri and the other victim who died in yesterday evening's tragedy, while urging the public to show restraint and responsibility on social media.

In a statement, Abela described Spiteri as more than just a DJ who brought joy to many through his music, saying he had the opportunity to speak with him on several occasions alongside Giorgia and Lydia. He remembered him as a humble and energetic person.

The Prime Minister extended his condolences to Spiteri's family, relatives, friends and everyone who knew and loved him during what he described as a deeply painful time.

Abela also used the opportunity to appeal for greater responsibility in the way people communicate online, stressing that speculation should be avoided while investigations are ongoing.

He said people should consider the impact their words can have on grieving families, adding that in moments of tragedy, truth, respect and humanity must always come before everything else.
