Prime Minister Robert Abela has inaugurated Buddha-Bar Malta, a new hospitality venue backed by a private investment of more than €6 million.

The venue offers around 250 dining seats and combines Asian-inspired gastronomy with music and entertainment, catering to both Maltese customers and international visitors.

Founded in Paris in 1996, Buddha-Bar is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. The international brand also operates in destinations including Dubai, Monte-Carlo, Prague, Marrakech and Mykonos.

During the inauguration, Abela praised the local investors for their confidence in Malta and their willingness to invest in new hospitality experiences. He said the project reflects the Government’s ambition to improve quality, productivity and added value across the economy.

The Prime Minister also linked the investment to the direction outlined in Budget 2027, including the planned revision of the tourist eco-contribution, aimed at further investment in Malta’s tourism product.

He highlighted the importance of ensuring that projects of this kind create opportunities for workers through training, skills development and career progression in hospitality, management and entertainment.

Abela congratulated the investors and employees involved in bringing the project to fruition, wishing them success in the new venture.
