Prime Minister Inaugurates €10 Million Tourism Investment In Buġibba

Prime Minister Robert Abela and Minister for Tourism Jo Etienne Abela have officially inaugurated the four-star Innside by Meliá hotel in Buġibba, representing an investment of more than €10 million.
Developed by the Agius family, the hotel features 86 rooms and employs around 50 people. During the inauguration, Prime Minister Abela highlighted the importance of continued investment in a tourism sector focused on quality, comfort and excellence.
The Prime Minister said the project reflects investor confidence in Malta’s tourism industry and in San Pawl il-Baħar, while contributing to the regeneration of the area. He noted that this investment follows public projects carried out in Buġibba in recent years, including the transformation of Buġibba Square, surrounding streets and the promenade.
Prime Minister Abela said such projects benefit residents and visitors while supporting efforts to attract higher quality tourism. He added that local and international investors have continued to open hotels, upgrade establishments and develop businesses of significant scale in the locality.
He said Malta’s tourism performance remained positive, with almost 1.7 million tourists visiting between January and May. National Statistics Office figures show that visitors contributed almost €1.4 billion to the economy during the first five months of the year.
The Prime Minister said the Government will continue encouraging investment in quality projects and infrastructure, including transport. He referred to the fast ferry service connecting Tas-Sliema, Buġibba and Gozo as part of efforts to improve mobility.
Prime Minister Abela also highlighted recent enforcement measures and on-the-spot fines for inappropriate public behaviour, saying these demonstrate the Government’s commitment to maintaining public order in areas with high visitor numbers.
