In a short video shared to social media, the Prime Minister could be seen meeting with his cabinet ahead of next Monday’s Budget 2026 announcement.

‘Everything set for Monday’, wrote Robert Abela, the day Finance Minister Clyde Caruana is expected to unveil Budget 2026.

This year’s Budget is set to have the theme of ‘A Strong Economy, A Future For Our Children’ (Ekonomija B’Saħħitha, Futur Għal Uliedna).’

NET News reported that the Prime Minister is set to press ahead with the planning laws, a statement that NET News claimed was leaked from within the Labour Party.

‘According to the same source from within Labour’s inner circle, Robert Abela feels cornered and unable to avoid pushing through these so-called reforms.’

In response, the Labour Parliamentary Group categorically denied that during their meeting today the Prime Minister communicated a decision which sees the government proceeding without any amendments to the planning reform.

‘The evaluation of the consultation process is still ongoing, with meetings having taken place as recently as this week’, the PL responded.

‘As happens every year, on the Saturday before the Budget, the Parliamentary Group, together with the Cabinet, convened to discuss the upcoming work related to another Budget’, with the PL saying that the Prime Minister will be taking legal action in connection with ‘this falsehood.’
