Prime Minister Robert Abela has announced that following the transformation of Manoel Island and White Rocks into public parks, another site, Fort Campbell in Selmun, North Malta, will be restored and opened for the enjoyment of Maltese and Gozitan families.

Abela noted that these initiatives are possible because Malta’s economy remains strong, enabling the country to exit the European Commission’s excessive deficit procedure ahead of schedule. While other European leaders focus on attracting investment, he highlighted that Malta’s economy continues to grow robustly.

As a result, the Government will introduce €9.3 million worth of measures in next year’s Budget.

Prime Minister said the Budget has been welcomed positively by the public, describing it as one that leaves more money in people’s pockets. He outlined that the first phase of a tax cut will take effect in the first month of next year, maximising over three years, and projected that a middle-class couple could save up to €250,000 over 25 years.

Prime Minister underlined several priority projects, including the new Emergency Department building, the Mental Health Hospital adjacent to Mater Dei, the continuation of the Ħal Far motor racing track, and completion of the horse race track. He also expressed his desire for his Government to be remembered for the regeneration of the Grand Harbour and the environmental projects on Manoel Island, White Rocks, and Fort Campbell, all of which he plans to focus on delivering in the near future.
