Prime Minister Robert Abela addressed supporters during a mass rally in Cottonera, where he reiterated a number of proposals aimed at supporting workers, families, young people and businesses.

Among the main measures spoken about was the proposal for the first €30,000 earned by young people starting full-time employment to be exempt from tax.

Abela also spoke about plans to extend maternity and paternity leave, introduce a non-taxable €1,000 super bonus for workers, reduce stamp duty for self-employed workers, and provide €5,000 grants for further education and training after completing studies. Another proposal includes a €5,000 birth bonus for every child.

Abela said that in recent weeks, the Labour Party had unveiled proposals aimed at different groups across society, including students, pensioners, families, businesses, self-employed workers and single persons.

During the rally, the Prime Minister also shared an emotional story from Gozo involving a child born through PGTM IVF treatment. He described the case as a clear example of how reforms can directly improve people’s lives and give hope to families.

He stressed that the Government’s proposals are based on a strong and sustainable economy, insisting that the Labour Party believes in responsible policies rather than what he described as “auction style politics”.

Abela also announced that the contract to return Manoel Island and Fort Tigné to the public would be signed next week. He concluded by urging supporters to continue reaching out to undecided voters ahead of the election.
