‘Pride Without Permission’: Gozo Pride 2026 Announced For 5th September!

Pride is more than a celebration. It is a movement rooted in the fight for equality, visibility and the right of every person to live openly and safely without fear of discrimination.

For members of the LGBTIQ+ community, Pride represents decades of activism, remembrance and solidarity.

While significant progress has been made in advancing LGBTIQ+ rights, LGBTI+ Gozo said equality cannot be taken for granted and that continued efforts are needed to challenge discrimination, intolerance and exclusion.

The organisation said Pride serves as a reminder of the struggles that have shaped the movement, while also creating a space where people can celebrate identity, diversity and the contributions of the LGBTIQ+ community.

Across the world, many members of the community continue to experience discrimination, violence and exclusion. Challenges such as bullying, hate speech and prejudice also remain present in local communities, making awareness and visibility important tools in promoting acceptance.

LGBTI+ Gozo said Pride continues to stand for the principle that everyone should have the freedom to live with dignity and without needing permission or approval to be themselves.

This message will form the basis of Gozo Pride 2026, which will take place under the theme ‘Pride Without Permission’. The event will be held on Saturday 5 September in Victoria, Gozo, as part of two weeks of activities running from 28 August to 12 September.

The programme will include exhibitions, screenings, community activities and performances. The main celebrations on 5 September will feature the Pride Village at Villa Rundle, the Pride March through the streets of Victoria and an official afterparty at Flamenco.
