President Spiteri Debono Meets Türkiye Ambassador

Myriam Spiteri Debono has held a series of high-level meetings with newly appointed ambassadors and diplomats, reaffirming Malta’s commitment to strengthening international relations and cooperation across multiple sectors.
During her meeting with the Ambassador of Türkiye, the President expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the Maltese people for Türkiye’s diplomatic intervention, which helped secure a stable supply of a vital chemical used in cancer treatment at the country’s oncology hospital. The discussion also highlighted the strong bilateral relationship between the two nations, particularly in business, with both sides exploring future agreements to further enhance cooperation. Amid ongoing global instability, both Malta and Türkiye emphasised their shared commitment to promoting dialogue and lasting peace.
In a separate meeting with the High Commissioner for India, President Spiteri Debono noted the growing ties between the two countries. She highlighted Malta’s recent export of local food and beverages to India, as well as the increasing presence of Indian investment on the island. Both sides expressed interest in expanding collaboration into new areas in the near future.
The President also met with the non-resident Ambassador of Panama, where discussions focused on potential cooperation in the maritime and education sectors. Particular attention was given to opportunities involving the International Maritime Law Institute, which continues to play a key role in global maritime education.
Concluding the series of meetings, President Spiteri Debono wished all three diplomats success in their new roles, expressing optimism for stronger partnerships and continued collaboration in the years ahead.
