President Myriam Spiteri Debono Visits Lands Authority Offices

On Friday morning, President Myriam Spiteri Debono visited employees at the Lands Authority offices in Valletta, thanking them for their daily dedication and commitment.
In her address, the President stressed that state-owned land and property should always be used for the common good.
“The purpose of every concession should be to increase the wealth of the people as a whole, guided by a social aim with the common good at the forefront,” she said.
She highlighted examples where government initiatives allowed families to redeem temporary leases on residential properties under favourable conditions, while noting that primary residences must remain the priority.
The President also underlined the importance of using public property to support cultural and sports organisations, as well as industries vital to Malta’s economy. However, she acknowledged that certain cases have raised concerns about trust in land management and appealed for greater transparency: “It is important that evaluation procedures are transparent and that it is clear decisions are taken in the best interest of the people.”
Concluding her speech, President Spiteri Debono encouraged Lands Authority staff to take pride in their responsibility and continue carrying out their work with “commitment, loyalty and dedication.”
